ROTTERDAM, April 13, 2021 – Parx Materials N.V. (Euronext: MLPRX), a materials innovation company, today announced that the Brazilian Patent Office has granted a patent application related to the Company's method for inhibiting bacteria attachment and formation of biofilms. The notice of allowance was issued April 13, 2021.

"We are pleased to have been granted this additional patent by the Brazilian government for our novel method for inhibiting bacteria attachment and preventing formation of biofilms," said Michael van der Jagt, CEO of Parx Materials.  "We have continued to expand our intellectual property portfolio creating a coverage of roughly all key markets all over the world.”

The team of researchers working for Parx Materials discovered that for viruses and bacteria the attachment to a surface is a critical step for them to last and to proliferate. The Parx Materials technology employs for example Van der Waals forces, to create a surface that show physical barrier properties that keep microorganisms at bay. Without latching on germs follow their normal lifecycle, but without proliferation and without formation of biofilm.

Mastering this concept makes that the company can make any polymer surfaces with an antimicrobial performance of 99,9% and higher. Recent SARS-CoV-2 tests on plastic solid surfaces made with the Company’s technology show antiviral performance of 99% in 24 hours.
