Independent ISO22196 and JIS Z2801 tests to verify the antimicrobial property of a solid/plastic surface identifies a Log3 or 99.9% efficacy of the technology or higher. Meaning the amount of germs on the surface is 99.9% lesser on a surface made with Passive Action Polymer Technology™ compared to a normal surface. The technology has broad-spectrum antimicrobial performance but has also been proven to be effective against viruses, moulds and fungi, biofilm and fouling. More about the performance.

3% is all it takes.


Passive Action Polymer Technology™ becomes part of your product’s material composition during the manufacturing process. For example during the plastic injection process, the extrusion process or the blow moulding process. Usually Passive Action Polymer Technology™ will be 3% of the material (or the material layer) composition. Incorporating the antimicrobial technology requires the homogenous blending of the Passive Action Polymer Technology™ together with the receiver material (your standard material). No other requirements, just that simple.

Improved physical property.


Passive Action Polymer Technology™ gives your materials improved mechanical/physical properties on the surface that are bio-inspired. To copy the immune properties of the human skin a trace element is integrated in the material that gives the surface a sort-of natural defence mechanism. A mechanism that our immune systems relies on and one that bacteria do not build up a resistance too. Natural and versatile.

No other changes.


Passive Action Polymer Technology™ does not impact the original characteristics of your product. Incorporating the technology creates improved mechanical/physical properties on the surface but leaves all the other characteristics of the material the same. You will see no change in: color, strength, transparency, UV- resistance, ageing characteristics, etcetera.

And no migration.


Passive Action Polymer Technology™ brings forth an improvement to the materials physical property. There is no active mechanism, there is no harmful substance inside and there is nothing migrating from the surface to attack the bacteria. The technology is inert and intrinsic in the material and is there to stay. It does not fade or wear off over time, there is no shelf life on the technology. The functionality is there, always.

EU and US food contact compliant.

Passive Action Polymer Technology™ has been designed and developed with food contact applications in mind. Most of the grades (dependent on the application) are food contact compliant and perfect for food contact applications and food packaging. The grades comply with for example:

- European Commission Regulation (EU) No 450/2009

Suitable for medical devices & implants.

An independent regulatory consultancy agency reviewed Passive Action Polymer Technology™ formulations on (i) data on safety aspects (material safety data sheets, and several well-known databases and (ii) biological safety evaluation test results. The outcome was that the starting and reaction materials applied are well-known and can be used to further process as part of a medical device.

Only a natural trace element; an essential mineral identified as an element of utmost biological importance. You will find it in your food and you need it in your daily diet as it is vital for the human immune system.

No leaching.

An intrinsic/inert change in and on the surface of the material. There is no substance migrating or leaching to act against bacteria. The functionality is purely due to the improved mechanical/physical property if the material surface.

The technology is not relying on any specific condition. The functionality of the technology does not rely on migration, So there is nothing leaching away from the material over time. That means it will never run out, it is simply always there. So it will never fade away or wear off.

Performance.

Passive Action Polymer Technology™ has a proven effectiveness against:

Bacteria.
99.9% or higher effectiveness proven according to ISO 22196, JIS Z2801, ISO20743 and ASTM E2149.

Viruses.
Efficacy has been confirmed for example against Corona 229E virus and the H1N1 and H3N2 Influenza A viruses according to ISO 21702 and ISO 18184.

Biofilm.
Preventing attachment, proliferation and quorum sensing actions results in the prevention of build-up and biofilm formation.

Mold & fungi.
Efficacy confirmed in ISO 846 tests.

Clogging.
Preventing attachment, preventing build-up and biofilm formation can prevent clogging in pipes and tubes.

Bad odor.
Bad smell is caused by bacteria, successfully reducing bacteria results in the prevention of bad smell.

Fouling.
6 and 12 months tests in open water show a succesfull prevention of different kind of fouling.

Infections.
In pre-clinical trials Saniconcentrate™ shows to reduce infections and is showing to improve wound healing.
